The Konica Big Mini BM-301 (1991) is a premium-tier autofocus compact with a fixed **Hexanon 35mm f/3.5** lens (a four-element design, multicoated). 175 g, polycarbonate body, programmed AE, active autofocus, built-in flash. Marketed primarily in the Japanese domestic market; less common globally than the Olympus mju or Yashica T4. The lens optical performance is excellent — sharp wide-open, with characteristic Konica color signature (slightly warmer than Zeiss-glass equivalents).

The Big Mini line started 1989; the BM-301 (1991) was the volume seller. Variants: BM-201 (earlier), BM-301 (1991), BM-302 (1993), BM-310z (1995, zoom version). Production ended around 1996. The Big Mini was Konica's response to the Olympus mju and Yashica T-series, positioned in the same premium-compact market segment.
For compact-camera enthusiasts who want a Japanese premium fixed-lens 35mm at a discount vs the Contax T-series, the Big Mini BM-301 is the cult choice. Used prices have stayed reasonable ($150–350) compared to the inflated Contax T2 / Yashica T4 market. The Hexanon 35/3.5 is genuinely sharp, the body is light, and the form factor is convenient.
The trade-off vs the Olympus mju-II is the slower lens (f/3.5 vs f/2.8) and slightly larger body. Vs Konica Hexar AF: significantly slower lens (f/3.5 vs f/2.0) but pocketable.
Lens fixed. No accessories.
