Profile notes
Film Washi E is a highly unconventional black-and-white emulsion produced by Film Washi EURL of Josselin, France. It is repurposed from industrial film originally manufactured to produce printed circuit board (PCB) masters. At ISO 3, it delivers ultra-fine grain, extreme sharpness, and very high contrast. The emulsion is coated on a transparent blue polyester base 180 µm thick. A defining characteristic is its near-total insensitivity to green light — its spectral sensitivity peaks near 700 nm, aligned with red laser wavelengths used in PCB manufacturing — giving it unusual, artistic rendering of green subjects. It can be handled safely under green safelight. Best developed in photographic paper developer (e.g. Ilford Multigrade 1+9, ~3.5 min at 20°C). Available in 120 roll film and 4×5 sheet formats.
