Ilford SFX 200 is a unique black-and-white emulsion that extends sensitivity well beyond conventional panchromatic films, reaching approximately 740nm into the near-infrared spectrum. Unlike true infrared films (such as Kodak HIE), SFX 200 can be loaded in subdued normal light, does not require total darkness, and processes in all standard B&W developers. At ISO 200 with no filter it behaves as a conventional panchromatic film. With a deep red filter (R72 or similar, such as Ilford's SFX Filter) the extended red sensitivity produces characteristic pseudo-infrared effects: foliage renders bright white, skies go very dark, and skin tones appear smooth and luminous. The film is coated on a 0.125mm grey acetate base providing good anti-halation protection. Processed in all standard B&W developers. Available in 35mm (36 exp) and 120 formats.
