Lucky Film's SHD 400 was originally manufactured in cooperation with Kodak from the early 2000s until ~2012, after which color and most B&W production ceased. In February 2024, Lucky Film officially relaunched the SHD 400 for international distribution (via distributors including Reflx Lab), with 120 format added alongside the original 135. The relaunched emulsion is a high-definition B&W panchromatic negative with wide exposure latitude for general outdoor and studio photography. Reviewers note pronounced grain at box speed—some Reflx Lab representatives recommend shooting at EI 200 for optimal results—and mixed quality control in early production runs. Develops in standard B&W chemistry; D-76 and similar developers recommended.
