The Instax Mini 40 (2021) is Fuji's design-edition Mini 11. Mechanically identical to the Mini 11 — auto exposure only, AA batteries, pull-out selfie collar with selfie mirror. The only differences are cosmetic: **black leather-style trim** with chrome accents replacing the Mini 11's pastel polycarbonate body. Marketed as a "premium" Instax for gift buyers and adults who didn't want the bubble-gum colorways of the Mini 11.

Released 2021 alongside the Mini 11. Production ran 2 years until 2023 when both the Mini 40 and Mini 11 were replaced by the Mini 12.
Mechanically identical to the Mini 11; the Mini 40 only differs in cosmetic finish. Used at $70–110, similar to Mini 11. For buyers who specifically prefer the leather-style aesthetic, it's the choice. For pure functionality, Mini 11 / 12 are equivalent.
