The FED-3 (1961) is the third-generation FED rangefinder from Kharkiv, Ukraine. Refines the FED-2 with **slower shutter speeds** (down to 1s vs the FED-2's 1/30s minimum) and **lever advance** (vs FED-2's knob). Same M39 LTM lens compatibility. Approximately 2 million units made over an 18-year production run.

Released 1961. Production ran 18 years until 1979 — approximately 2 million units made. Replaced by the FED-4 (1964) which added uncoupled selenium meter, then FED-5 (1977) with refined cosmetics.
For 2026 buyers, the FED-3 adds slower shutter speeds vs FED-2 — making it more useful in low-light. Used at $40–120. M39 LTM mount means access to all Leica screw-mount and Soviet LTM lenses (Industar, Jupiter).
