Released 1939 by Meopta. The Flexaret line ran through Cold War-era Czechoslovakia and continued into the 1970s. Meopta's optical glass was respected throughout Eastern Europe; the Belar lens is well-regarded among Eastern Bloc TLR enthusiasts.
For 2026 buyers, the Flexaret is the Eastern European budget TLR. Used at $120–280. The Belar 80/3.5 is competent (Tessar-equivalent), the body is mechanically simple, and pricing is significantly below Yashica/Mamiya/Rollei equivalents. Trade-off: build quality is variable; service availability is limited.
Lens fixed.
