Profile notes
CineStill 50D is the world's finest-grain still-photography color negative film, derived from Kodak Vision3 5203 (50D) motion picture stock. CineStill acquires fresh Kodak Vision3 5203 stock and applies their proprietary 'Premoval' process to strip the remjet anti-halation layer, making it safe for standard C-41 photo lab chemistry. Without the remjet layer, the acetate base produces the characteristic CineStill halation glow around highlights. The film is rated EI 50 in daylight (5500K) and can be shot from EI 12 to 100 without push/pull adjustment. Available in 35mm (36-exposure) and 120 formats. First offered in 2012 with the founding of CineStill, with 120 format added later. Its ultra-fine grain and wide dynamic range make it well-suited to portraiture, landscapes, and studio work.
