HARMAN Phoenix

HARMAN Phoenix 200 is the first color negative film manufactured entirely at HARMAN Technology's Mobberley, UK facility. Launched in late 2023, it offers a distinctly expressive look with high contrast, prominent grain, and striking halation effects around bright light sources due to its lack of masking dyes and minimal anti-halation layer.

Profile notes

HARMAN Phoenix 200 is a landmark film: the first C-41 color negative emulsion ever made in-house at HARMAN Technology's Cheshire factory, the same facility known for producing Ilford black-and-white films. Released in late 2023, Phoenix 200 was designed to stand apart from mainstream color films, offering high contrast, visible grain, and pronounced halation around bright light sources — characteristics stemming from its clear base, absence of masking dyes, and minimal anti-halation layer. The film is rated ISO 200 in daylight but performs well rated anywhere from EI 100–200 depending on the scene's brightness and contrast range. It processes in standard C-41 chemistry and is compatible with replenished dip-and-dunk processors and one-shot spiral-tank development alike. The look leans vivid and experimental: saturated shadows, slightly unpredictable color balance, and a raw analogue character that digital tools struggle to replicate. Available in 35mm (36 exp, DX-coded) and 120 formats.
